RED JACKETS
Posted on | November 12, 2008 | No Comments

You know my affection for red hats, which have seemed to catch on, and I have to admit I’m really feeling red, which I think work’s nicely as a jacket too. You also know my affection for Albam, and I’m really into their version (which also comes in an amazing electric green) which is a nice classic version of a windbreaker. I also like the more substantial Woolrich Woolen Mills version too (top right). There’s been a renaissance in buffalo check too, but I like these solid red ones. Either way I think a red jacket is a good way to have an interesting look, yet still maintain a classic feel.
O.H.W.O.W. PRESENTS IT AIN’T FAIR
Posted on | November 12, 2008 | No Comments

After last year’s unofficial Art Basel boycott by some of my favorite artists, this year is shaping up to be impressive. Al Moran and Aaron Bondaroff present their second exhibit at their Our House of West of Wynwood space in downtown Miami. Feature all the usual suspects, this looks like its going to be a good one. The exhibit runs from December 2-7.

INTRODUCING: DARK AYES
Posted on | November 10, 2008 | 2 Comments

I’m really digging the first collection from Dark Ayes. I don’t know to much from the brand, but I think it is from The Czech Republic of all places. It seems to be mostly awesome progressive women’s fashion, but they do seem to make their amazing t-shirts in men’s sizes.

At just 20 years old, Harley Viera-Newton is known for both her accomplishments and her incredible sense of personal style. Currently at NYU studying Egyptology, she also lends her DJ skills to weekly parties at Lit and manages to play bass in Lissy Trullie’s band. With a unique sense of style that has taken on a life of its own, I spoke to Harley about what we can expect from her DJ set and what she believes every dude should have in their closet. A NEW BREED OF MODELS
Posted on | November 4, 2008 | No Comments

You know I’m a fan of Adam Kimmel’s deisgns and his past choices for models, and he does it again, but this time using older artists, actors and musicians. Amongst those featured in his lookbook are actor Dennis Hopper (top left) and artists Don Bachardy (top left), Larry Bell (bottom left) and Semina artist, Geroge Herms with his son (bottom right). I love that he uses “real people” for his lookbook.
HERON PRESTON

I’ve been following Heron Preston for a while. His website, Heronpreston.com is rare in a sense that it has always managed to keep me coming back. His blog is almost like a personal journal that I’m actually interested in reading, but he also dishes out some solid advice and documents his thoughts and hustles all through original photos, words and video. Heron moved out to NY from San Francisco to go to Parsons and now works as a Jr. Strategist at Naked Communications. I spoke to Heron about his new project, The Young and The Banging, his love for New York City and his favorite city in the world, Paris. By Kyle Morrison.

Stylist Grant Woolhead has had quite the career. After graduating from Central Saint Martins and working at The Face and Arena Homme Plus, Woolhead’s “modern classic” taste has landed him within the pages of Interview, Details and The New York Times. Filing me in on his most memorable shoot of his career and the best advice that has ever been passed his way, Woolhead is consistently making waves with tastemakers worldwide. Check out my conversation with Mr. Grant Woolhead himself below. By Yale Breslin.
TERENCE KOH

Terence Koh is one of the most fascinating artist to me. He really embodies the term “Art Star” and I am always delighted and surprised with whatever he puts out. From hand made zines to solo shows at some of the most well reputed galleries in the world, he manages to balance the sublime and the perverted. I recently had the chance to ask Terence some questions, and as Terence routinely lies in his interviews and has some of the most entertaining responses, I though I would try and get a different perspective. I asked some friends if there was anything they would want to ask Terence Koh if they had the chance and their questions are below. By Kyle Morrison.
