PLEATED PANTS?

Everyone know that pleated pants are for senile old men and guys who hate their jobs, but I’m a huge fan of the look. Patrik Ervell (left) does a good version and I especially like the Carin Wester version. Start to worry when I begin to praise socks and sandals…
M. WARD + ZOOEY DESCHANEL = SHE & HIM

I’ve been giving an un-proportionate amount of love to electronic based music lately so now it time to give some shine to real authentic music made with real instruments. Enter She & Him. Comprised of super cute actress Zooey Deschanel and a previous folk/indie/pop musician M. Ward. I love their official Bio:
“The She & Him story begins when in 2006 , renowned one man band M. Ward, recorded a duet with a girl named Zooey Deschanel. A delightful recording session, the experience lead to a dialogue between the two about collaborating further. This, in turn, led to Deschanel admitting to secretly making dozens and dozens of home demos and hoarding them like acorns for the winter. Sick and tired of being stingy and secretive about music, Deschanel realized that if songs were acorns then this was indeed her wintertime: she sent the recordings to Ward and these demos became the basis for their first record, entitled Volume One.”
They craft really charing catchy country inspired pop songs that sound like they are lost treasures found in an attic from 30 or 40 years ago. They recently played to sold out audeinces in NY and LA and today they have anounced their North American tour:

NEW FROM TINY VICES…

Coming soon from Tim Barber and tinyvices.com is TV Books. Look out for monogrpahs, books and zines. You know to expect great things from Tim and Tiny Vices so keep your eyes peeled
MAKE YOUR OWN DEJOUR PAPER

What do Kanye, The Cobrasnake, Justice and DJ AM all have in common? They all have copies of Dejour Paper and now you can too. If you didn’t manage to get you hands on one of the Dejour Papers (I only made about 50), now is your chance. I’ve put all the pages in a zip file and all you have to do is print them and staple them together. Pretty self explanatory.
HOLY GHOST!

I know this is nothing new, but I’ve been playing HOLY GHOST! from Brooklyn (where else?) non stop latley. I wouldn’t expect anything less from DFA. Now that all the Serato DJs are slowly moving from blog electro to italodisco/whatever you want to call it, expect to hear a lot more from them. I’m sure you have already heard “Hold On” (a.k.a. the new D.A.N.C.E.) but check them out on their mysapce.
ONE CITY LEFT
This morning I got an email from Kevin at Given Collective and he put me on to his new project that he has been working on. He explains it better than I do: “The project itself is titled ‘One City Left’ and is a photography project that involved ten individuals in five North American cities. Each participant was given a disposable camera, and asked to set about the task of documenting the culture, places, and experiences they encounter in a particular time frame. The final images were compiled and have been turned into a website.” I love the concept of using disposable cameras for their raw organic quality. Ever since Polaroid film has been discontinued people have been jumping to disposable cameras and I like what I see. He has photos from about 10 artists, musicians and weirdoes, Heron Preston being one of them.
