ALICE DELLAL

11.jpg
Alice Dellal has taken the fashion world by storm - due to her unique style and her rule-breaking presence. As the new face of Agent Provacateur, Dellal has graced the pages of Paris Vogue and was also featured in a recent MANGO Campaign. With her half shaved head and omnipresent nosering, Dellal filled me in on her favorite photographers (Diane Arbus…), her favorite places to shop (www.fetish.com) as well as her vices (ventolin inhalers et al….). JOEY GRAY OF HALF LIFE

12life.jpg

Creative Director of Half Life clothing, Joey Gray started his line with one thought in mind: people tend to wear the same few things over and over again. He set out to create a collection of basic pieces based on “minimal construction fit, and comfort”. Mr. Gray was kind enough to let me in on his thought process - from conception to execution and everything in between. Ladies and gentlemen, I present you…..Half Life. By Yale Breslin.

RED JACKETS

redjax.jpg

You know my affection for red hats, which have seemed to catch on, and I have to admit I’m really feeling red, which I think work’s nicely as a jacket too.  You also know my affection for Albam, and I’m really into their version (which also comes in an amazing electric green) which is a nice classic version of a windbreaker.  I also like the more substantial Woolrich Woolen Mills version too (top right).  There’s been a renaissance in buffalo check too, but I like these solid red ones.  Either way I think a red jacket is a good way to have an interesting look, yet still maintain a classic feel.

INTRODUCING: DARK AYES

08.jpg

I’m really digging the first collection from Dark Ayes.  I don’t know to much from the brand, but I think it is from The Czech Republic of all places.  It seems to be mostly awesome progressive women’s fashion, but they do seem to make their amazing t-shirts in men’s sizes.

A NEW BREED OF MODELS

kimmel.jpg

You know I’m a fan of Adam Kimmel’s deisgns and his past choices for models, and he does it again, but this time using older artists, actors and musicians.  Amongst those featured in his lookbook are actor Dennis Hopper (top left) and artists Don Bachardy (top left), Larry Bell (bottom left) and Semina artist, Geroge Herms with his son (bottom right).  I love that he uses “real people” for his lookbook.

GRANT WOOLHEAD, STYLIST

gw1.jpg Stylist Grant Woolhead has had quite the career. After graduating from Central Saint Martins and working at The Face and Arena Homme Plus, Woolhead’s “modern classic” taste has landed him within the pages of Interview, Details and The New York Times. Filing me in on his most memorable shoot of his career and the best advice that has ever been passed his way, Woolhead is consistently making waves with tastemakers worldwide. Check out my conversation with Mr. Grant Woolhead himself below. By Yale Breslin.
